BIG SUR, CALIF. — Despite raging wildfires in the region, most Big Sur area hotels, restaurants and attractions remain open, according to a statement issued by the Monterey County CVB.

HONOLULU — Hotels and Resorts has been selected to take over management of the 226-room Park Shore Waikiki Hotel, a 40-year-old property slated for a major makeover designed to reposition it as a luxury hotel.

MIDLAND, MICH. — Construction is under way on a 180-room Holiday Inn scheduled to open in downtown Midland in early 2009.

SAN MIGUEL ALLENDE, GUANAJUATO, MEXICO — Construction has started on the 63-room Rosewood San Miguel de Allende luxury resort in the historic colonial city of San Miguel de Allende in central Mexico.
